Certificate I Animal Studies

This accredited course is designed to provide students with the general animal care information. With a mixture of theory and practical application, the course content includes: Preparing for work in the animal industry, Basic animal behaviour, Basic animal health and nutrition, Occupational health and safety in the animal industry, Workplace communication in the animal care context.

Practical activities will include grooming, dog, guinea pig and bird handling, cleaning and feeding. Assessment for the units of competency will include attendance at each day of the course, written assignments, group projects, and animal handling.

Certificate II in Animal Studies

This accredited course is a level II Certificate from the Animal Care and Management Training Package. It is intended for inital entry into the animal industry and is designed to provide students with general animal care information whilst alsoproviding pathways to further training.

Practical activities will include grooming; dog, cate and bird handling; cleaning and feeding in a simulated work environment.

Certificate I in Food Processing (Viticulture)

This course gives students the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge related toworking in the viticulture/wine industry.  The course is designed with a practical emphasis and students will undertake a woek placement in a winery, and work in vinyards during pruning season.

Certificate I in Racing (Stablehand)

This course held at the TAFESA Horse Skills Centre at Morphettville, offers insights into the Thoroughbred Racing Industry and career pathways in relation to working in stables and caring forhorses. Students learn about feeding, grooming and exercising horses. The course is appropriate for students who wish to work as stablehands.

Introduction to Working with Dogs

This program is designed to build a foundation of theory and practical skills that relate directly to the racing industry, the course theory and practical activities may include dog handling, grooming, cleaning and feeding, and industry field trip. On completion of Introduction to Working with Dogs, a student will have made pathways for SACE, further TAFE qualifications, or traineeship opportunities.
