Good presentation of your transferable skills during an interview can be the key to getting the job you want. Practice and feedback is a great way to help you to develop this skill.
One way to hone your interview skills is through the Quality LinCS Mock Interview program. This one-on-one service can help you highlight the competencies interviewers are often looking for and provide you with constructive helpful feedback.

People often underestimate the importance of demonstrating basic, transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving. In fact, being able to show such skills may put you ahead of a rival candidate with similar or even better technical experience. Since many employers consider past behaviour to be the best predictor of future performance, and young people may have difficulty in identifying what to highlight, the Mock Interview process can assist with working out how to best present yourself in your interview.
A Quality LinCS staff member will come to your school and give a short presentation about what is expected fro you in a n interview and also what you can expect. In this session you will recieve information such as sample question you might like to ask the interviewer, how to present yourself and some general information for students who have never experienced an interview before.
Piror to your interview day you will be asked to select a job ad, either from the internet or a print newspaper, you will be expected to "apply" for your chosen job, sending the applicaiton to Quality LinCS along with your resume and a covering letter. Don't forgt to include the add otherwise it could be a very short interview!
We will carry out a one-on-one interview with you as if you are actually attending your interview for the role. We will ask you a series of questions similar to those you could expect in a "real" interview.
We will then offer you feedback based on your responses, your presentation and general your overall performace. This feedback is not always provided in the interview time slot as some schools prefer to have feedback presented by a class teacher. Feedback will always be in a written format however.
A mock interview is a “must-have” to ensure you are fully prepared for the real thing. Don’t let your chance to impress go out the window through one “silly mistake” at your real interview.
