Secondary SWD Transition Network (Southern Adelaide)

Purpose:

To improve transitions to help young people with a disability move from school into post school education and training and subsequent employment.

By:

  1. Strengthening links between schools, universities, training providers and disability service providers.
  2. Developing sustainable regional models for assisting students with disabilities to move into productive employment and further learning.

Membership:

  • Southern Adelaide school staff who can provide advice about and leadership in the transition of students with a disability into post school options.

  • DECS Southern Adelaide Support Services, Industry Skills Managers.
  • Other school sectors’ disability support services

Objectives:

  • Increased participation in the State Wide Transition Program.
  • A range of regional transition models for students with disabilities.
  • Professional development of school staff in the areas of transition for students with disabilities.
  • The dissemination of the relevant information between Network Members.
  • Schools to have clear, consistent, realistic & high expectations for the transition of their students with disabilities.
  • To improve the retention of students with disabilities.
